Establishing a garden on this farm required a Fort Knox approach. For the first two years, we were plagued by deer, rabbits, gophers, birds, ground squirrels, dogs, and even our own chickens, that pillaged my garden. Each represented their own nuisance and each required it’s own set of fencing and abatement needs.
Finally, March 2013, I have a fully enclosed 8′ fenced area, complete with gopher cages, raised beds and separated the chicken run. Wires for overhead aviary netting is installed and a drip system and compost pile is fully functional.
